I keep trying to find some time to post all the little bits I keep coming up with that would be interesting, but by this point that would take at least an hour, so here’s at least a placeholder for now: This was in the email from Careerbuilder.com for the job fair I went to on Tuesday — a note that said that “Buisness Attire” would be required.
I’m noticing more and more typos in the corporate media these days, especially in TV news. One local station’s news was telling about a feature series running on their 10:00 report, and they splashed across the screen, ‘LATER TONGIHT”.
“Tongiht”? Sounds like a Polynesian appetizer made from parts of the iguana you don’t want to know about.
Seriously, though: That’s a clear warning sign of the breakdown of civilization, people: Laxity in the mass communications oligarchy.
This is exactly what precipated the first crumblings of the Roman Empire: You get sloppy in what goes out in your messenger scrolls, and the next thing you know the fleece vendors are rioting in the streets and the gladiators are setting fires to the olive farms.
Is that what we want for our country?
