Excellent Steampunk Video

Monday, August 6th, 2007

Okay, let’s make a deal: I’ll post something for a second day in a row, but I get to make it quick. In return, it’s something really, really cool that I’m posting: A short steampunk film with both animation and writing that’s worthy of Pixar. Bonus points: Bouncing heaving bosoms! More bonus points: A dog in a funny costume!

So just watch it already and leave me alone!

(Note: Since I posted the above, the video has been removed from DailyMotion.com, so here’s Plan B: Watch the video’s trailer below, and go to Blur Studio’s official site to watch the whole thing — in Quicktime, unfortunately.)

(What’s steampunk, you ask? Watch the above video and get a clue, n00b. But loosely put, it’s sci-fi based in the Victorian era, the Golden Age of Industrialization, making maximum use of the technology at the time; the giant mechanical tarantula from the Wild Wild West movie is an excellent example. For more on this popular subgenre, click here, here, and here. I’ve been wanting to post most of these links for a year or more, and I’m just now getting around to it. So how about clicking the links so I didn’t just my time, okay? Okay!)

TIN ROOF! RUSTED! Just briefly: I need to post something, so how about the fact that we went to a wedding reception for a co-worker on Friday night in McKinney? And that I’ve posted pictures? Including pictures of people, including drunk people, as shown here, dancing?

Yeah, that oughta hold ya …

(By that way, those of you reading this overseas might be interested to know that since 1993 it has been required by federal law in this country that “Brick House” be played at every wedding reception. In addition, there are now bills in Congress proposing that “Hey Ya” and “Love Shack” be made mandatory as well.)
