You can see the mosaic full size here, to check out all the cool little photos that make up the big picture, and the original picture here.
This is, by the way, one of the Fina buildings, or whatever they’re called now, on Central Expressway in Dallas, as I might or might not have mentioned last week.
I still don’t quite have the hang of working with it, and it doesn’t play well with Paint Shop Pro, but here it is. A side view would be more impressive, but this will do for now.
We went looking at the laptops on sale at Circuit City today, and came away with a camera — an Olympus FE230, to be exact. Then we went to Sam’s and got a three-handset cordless phone set, because one of our two existing sets is over 10 years old and has been in a death spiral for some time now.
… and it’s ALL there is today, since I had to go in to work for no real good reason, AND we had no air conditioning …
Well, okay, one more thing: Tonight I got the idea to import some of my old MIDI files into my Cakewalk Project5 sequencer, so I’ve been messing around with “Ride of the Valkyries” and The Cowsills’ “The Rain, The Park, and Other Things” (aka “I Love the Flower Girl”).
You know, I think the worst part for everybody is not that she didn’t have to serve out her sentence in a real jailhouse, but that she got to be under house arrest in her MANSION, and have all the friends over that she wanted. That’s like, “I sentence you to … your fabulous lifestyle … MINUS the Paparazzi.”
I would have even been happy if she had been made to do 30 days in a tiny Motel 6 room, sleeping on a lumpy mattress and eating baloney sandwiches, with no friends, no designer clothes, no phone calls, no booze, and just basic cable.
She needs to be punished, but let’s not go overboard on the schadenfraude, okay?
Don’t hate.
Anyway, here’s the best Paris-goes-to-jail video I’ve found on YouTube — very professional, with a really well-written song. It even puts the whole thing in perspective from Paris’ perspective (“Robert Blake and O.J. Simpson/They both get off scot-free/I drive without a license/They throw the book at me.”), so check it out:
G4TV has brought back their Free Stuff show — running every weeknight this month! It’s basically a half-hour infomercial for high-tech gadgets (tonight, the Palm Treo 700P cell phone), but it’s worth it because they give those things away. One word of advice: I mostly use IE because it’s friendlier to the way I surf, blog and download, but on the trial runs of the show, I couldn’t get my entries through; it works now on Firefox. … It’s our third straight day without rain! On the downside, it was 94 degrees today. On the other hand, at least it’s been cool so far this spring, so we’ve been lucky. … How about Paris Hilton getting sprung from the pokey after less than 10% of her sentence? How many of the sheriff’s kids did old man Hilton have to put through college to pull that off? … I had to work late last night — I am so not used to this — but at least we had warning this time. They’re threatening to make us work on Saturday, but I’m going to bust my butt tomorrow to try to make working on Saturday unnecessary. … And finally: Newcastle Steve found these two cool things: OldTime Horror Radio M3′s, and the Random Pizza Generator.
In the past year, in the course of our involvement in Flickr’s pomeranian community, we’ve fallen in love with a little rescued Pommie named Miss Sarie, a formerly sickly little pup with milky eyes and a tongue that hangs out the side.
I didn’t know until today that CBS is running an American version of Creature Comforts, the British talking-animal series by the same animation wizards that do Wallace & Gromit. I watched it tonight and it was pretty funny, just like the original. I wish I could figure out who the voices were; it doesn’t say on the CBS site or the IMDB, but maybe I’ll find out eventually … What I was doing yesterday was going to retrieve the old sound system from our standup comedy showcase productions ten years ago. My old partner was needing to get rid of some stuff, and after not having a chance to go get them for a couple of months, I made time yesterday, since it might have been my only completely free weekend for a while, dammit. Here’s a picture of the main hardware; not pictured: An equipment bag and another Big Big O’ Crap, as Bill calls it. Pictures of those will be forthcoming, because it’s some pretty cool stuff, including three good-quality microphones. My wife is pretty excited, because she’s a big audio-equipment fanatic. … I’m ticked, I forgot “On the Lot” was on tonight. I hope I can watch the short films on the Fox website … More TV: The Riches season finally was tonight. That’s an oddly great show, but now we have to wait for it to come back. … Even more TV: G4TV is going to be running their Free Stuff show through the summer (I think), so it’s a good chance to maybe win something …
I had a busy day, so, in lieu of a post, here’s a picture of a Dallas landmark that’s close to were I was:
If you’re a fan of the old Dallas series, you may recognize the gold structures (the old Fina buildings, not sure if they’re still called that) as the building they’d show (minus the Doubletree tower in the center) right before they showed Cliff Barnes in his office.
Anyway, before I go, I’ll need to give a shout to my old comedy-producing partner Bill, who is why I was busy today and why I was within shouting distance of these shiny gold stacks.
And I’ll go into details tomorrow … maybe … unless I have to work late without the courtesy of a little freaking notice, which is becoming nauseatingly common lately …
